As part of the undergraduate degree requirements, students are expected to complete at least 320 hours of supervised work and this time round, one of our students: Miss Sharifa Nabatanzi got a placement at the 9Net Company, a software development company in Bangkok, Thailand. During her internship, she received the opportunity to participate in and be part of one of the company’s projects – AppBerry. This software product has caught the attention of many including the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA) Thailand and with a sponsorship from SIPA, the team behind the success of AppBerry was given a chance to showcase their product at the software Expo Asia 2014.

This expo took place at the Queen Sirikit National Conventional Center with the AppBerry booth featured under the “Rising Star Pavilion” from the 28th – 30th of August 2014. In summary, AppBerry contains a user management API and cloud services to facilitate app developers during the app development process. The user management API constitutes of predesigned easy to use widgets for sign up, email/password login, social login etc. This helps app developers speed up their time to the market; saving about 30% of the development time with less lines of code. Besides the User management API, features like user analytics and notification are also included in the AppBerry package. As it has always been the culture, the faculty of SoIT always participates and ensures to guide its students to help them secure industrial training placements with reputable companies where they are more likely to get chances like the one above – participating in successful company projects like AppBerry.Share
