The School of Science and Technology was ranked #3 in the latest Research Assessment Exercise conducted countrywide by the Thailand Research Fund (TRF) for the Information and Communication Technology / Computer Engineering Discipline. SoST faculty members are internationally recruited with research interests in diverse areas: Artificial Intelligence, Software and Requirement Engineering, Database, Networking, XML and Semantic Web Technology, Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, E-Learning, Pervasive Computing and Digital Library.

The School of Science and Technology aims to provide strong foundations in computer software development and information systems in conjunction with state-of-the-art methods and techniques for development of information-technology-based business solutions. Our programs (Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering, Master of Science in IT, and PhD in IT) encourage students to learn fundamental IT theories which are then used to derive practical solutions to ‘real-world’ IT problems and are accredited by Ministry of Education, Thailand.

The credit requirements for BSCSMSIT and PhD-IT are 141, 36 and 60 credits, respectively. For the MSIT program, students may choose an optional 12-credit thesis in lieu of course work. A Conversion Module is also offered to accommodate students without computer/IT degrees wishing to pursue a higher degree in IT. The total credit requirement of the PhD-IT degree is 60 credits including 12 credits of course work and 48 credits of thesis. PhD candidates are encouraged to discuss with faculty members about potential research topics prior to application. The faculty profiles are available on SoIT website. Moreover, the university frequently offers preparatory English courses for its students who needs to improve their English.

Students are given the opportunity to work in several practical research and development (R&D) projects under the close supervision of our faculty members whose areas of expertise range from information and knowledge management systems, software engineering, Web, mobile and communication technologies to intelligent systems, human language processing and machine learning. In addition, our programs regularly invite distinguished speakers and experts from both industry and academia to share with the students important technology updates and trends in IT. Outside classroom activities also include a visit to several leading organizations whose reputations for business excellence stem from effective use of IT.

Graduates from our School of Science and Technology are among the highest calibre in the region, capable of commanding the highest positions (with commensurate rewards) in virtually any information-technology field.
